BoxyCharm February 2018

What is inside this month's box?!

Another month, another BoxyCharm box! The beginning of the year is always an exciting time in makeup. New product launches seem to be happening daily, and this month, BoxyCharm is taking part in some new product launches. How exciting?!

Seraphine Botanicals Sugar+Lemon Moisturizing Lip Buffer - $24

This month's box really had me excited. Magenetic palette, lip scrub, CoverFX? Yes, please!

I have been eyeing new magnetic palettes for a while now, So much to the point, that my husband exclaimed "Oh THANK GOD you finally got one!" The blush that comes along with the palette is a nice, deep mauve shimmer shade. For someone as fair skinned as myself, the color can seem a bit too dark, not intimidating dark though. But, the shade is buildable, blendable and stunning none the less.

The brushes from Crown are outright pretty. The white handles, with ergonomic finger placement, have a super girly light pink dash of color on the tips of the brush. One thing that strikes me as a first impression, it reminds me a lot of the WetnWild brushes. The brush handles are the same, the coloring is the same and the synthetic brush head feels eerily similar. The glaring difference between the two is the price point. Judge for yourself accordingly!

The smokey eye pencil from Vintage Cosmetics is your typical smudgy, black eye kohl. The pencil touts that it is creamy-soft and glides on the lid without tugging or pulling, but unfortunately, I did find that the pencil skipped across my lid and left a very jagged, sloppy line on the lid. If I didn't know the retail price of this pencil, or that it is not a drugstore product, I would have thought this to be a pencil from the sale section at the CVS.

PUR X-Faux Lips Plumping Lip Exfoliator was a total surprise to see inside of this month's box. I am a huge fan of lip scrubs and this one really intrigued me. The scrub is dispensed like a automatic style pencil, but does not retract (word of warning, don't turn up too much product at once or it will get stuck out of the container!) The smell is scrumptious, like shea butter mixed with a hint of coconut, and the taste is pleasant. What I like most about this scrub is how you are able to get right to the edges of your lips and exfoliate in the place that is always hardest to scrub. (We all have the same struggle, use a jar lip scrub and get the scrub all over the skin around your mouth...this does not do that! Wait, only me who makes a childlike mess using a lip scrub? Fair enough) The formula does leave behind a bit of stickiness after removal, but it is more a thick balm feel that absorbs within a minute and helps to plump the lips. (I noticed an after taste of mint, and a ever so slight tingle - and my lips do, really, truly, honestly, look lusciously plump. No other product has been able to do that for me! EVER!)

The CoverFX shimmer veil is a gorgeously hued, non-creasing, iridescent, multi-use cream product. This product can be used on the eyes, as a highlight or even on the lips. The glow from this cream is not for the faint of heart...but it is completely buildable to achieve either a light iridescent glow or a blinding shimmering highlight. (I tried this as a lip topper to my favorite lipstick, Kat Von D Studded Kiss, and it gave an incredible effect to the matte finish of the lipstick.)

The February 2018 BoxyCharm box had a some hits and misses this month. For the price of $21 a month, offering 5 full size products of premier and indie brand makeup, you can not beat it.
