Silkah Frozen18 K-Beauty line

Silkah Frozen18 Anti-Aging Kit

A new anti-aging miracle line?

The Silkah Frozen 18 Anti-aging skincare system, is a new k-beauty skincare line that is new, breakthrough, formula utilizing stem cells to help the fight with aging. Does it work, what's the hype about it? Let's discuss and find out!

*I received these products from 08L to try for review purposes. All opinions expressed are soley my own and truthful.*

Directly from the Silkah website, the product claims
"Using for 1-2 weeks You will find your skin has brightened and whitened, and the texture of skin has become smoother and nicer. Using for 4 weeks You can clearly find the wrinkles and pores on your skin has greatly improved, and the skin has become firmer and tighter."
Using a three-step product sequence, the kit is taking the protein structure of stem cells and lyophilizing (aka drying out, to preserve the structure of the proteins) them to fight the good fight against aging.

The Products

The first product to use, is the Revitalizing Hydrating Mask. This mask is meant to hydrate and soften the skin. Using this mask prior to the second product in this line, is also said to help the skin better absorb the stem cell formula from the outer layer of the skin to the inner layer.

The second product in this line, is the Frozen18. This is a two piece product, an individually packaged mister bottle (think sample perfume spray bottle style) that contains the lyophilized proteins and a dropper bottle of liquid meant to rehydrate the dried proteins.

The final item in this kit is the brightening lotion. This lotion is intended to do exactly as the name suggests, brighten the skin while hydrating it and improving skin texture.

Using the products
I was looking forward to using this line. The idea of a hydrating sheet mask every three days, freshly prepared anti-aging spray and brightening lotion sounded like a dream come true. Could all my skin concerns be taken care of with one skincare line?
My hopes started to fizzle out shortly after opening the sheet mask. The sheet mask, while fitted incredibly well compared to most sheet masks, is very involved with multiple layers and steps to apply it to the face properly. First you have to peel off a backing layer, apply to mask to the face, then peel off a top layer (without disturbing the mask itself) reposition the thin sheet mask without ripping it and then make sure it is properly pressed on to the skin. PHEW that has me tired out just writing about it! Once you get past the initial application of the mask, you leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, then remove and rinse off remaining essence.

The Frozen18 spray was very interesting and different to use. You rip open this little foil package to find an even smaller spray bottle, twist open the spray top and then grab your activator liquid, which is in a dropper bottle.  You add about 5mL of activator to the spray vial, recap both products well and shake the spray vial until all the powder is dissolved. The spray vial contains enough product to last for 3 uses, which is three days worth.
The Brightening Lotion is a light consistency product meant for use after using Frozen18. The bottle is a decent size, with a nice pump design. Application is suggested on both the face and neck for the greatest benefit.

Experience with the products
First impression of this product was from the sheet mask. Product claims say that an immediate benefit would be seen from this mask, unfortunately, there was nothing to be seen. I did not notice any increased hydration in my skin, or brightness, The mask left my skin feeling very sticky, even after washing. The smell of the mask was pleasant though, it was not off-putting during wear time.

The spray is the WORST smelling product I have ever used. You know how in every hospital there is a laboratory that tests blood samples, and other body products? Well, imagine that laboratory, in the microbiology area...imagine a sample that got left in an incubator (a giant dry heat box) and forgotten about for several weeks...THAT is what this spray smells like. (For those of you who do not have the luxury of knowing the smell I am talking about, imagine the most yeast filled bread you can get, dampen it slightly and put it in a sealed bag sitting in the hot sun for three weeks. Open that bag and take a whiff of that green stuff growing on it....yup, that is how bad this smells.) The spray vial functions just as poorly as the product smells. The spray top is incredibly small and when trying to dispense the product onto your face, the product collects on top of the spray nozzle and underneath your finger. Not where you want the product to go. Whatever product does come out of the spray, doesn't ever make it to the face. The mist is so fine, and light, that you would need to hold the vial an inch from your skin to get it where it needs to go.
The lotion, oh the lotion...this was my favorite product out of all three. But, again, another unfortunately coming your way, the dispenser on the lotion is defective! Of course it would be! The top of the lotion dispenser is perfect, smooth motion of the dispenser, perfect setup to leave the top neat and clean...only problem is there is nothing connected to the top of the dispenser (like a 'tube' of some kind) to bring the product from the bottom of the bottle to the top. The smell of the lotion is strong, not going to lie, but it is a strong herbal, spa type of smell. It is non-greasy, absorbs well and seemed to hydrate nicely.

Should you give this line a try?
Clearly, from my experience using these products, the answer is already staring us all in the face, but, there is something you need to know about what the products did to my face. After using this product on the second day, only at day 2, my skin broke out in hives. Not just any hives, hives that started spreading down my neck onto my chest and up into my scalp. The only new products I was using were these, everything else had stayed the same! My reaction to this was so bad, poor Holli had to get my messages pleading with her to give me some kind of super-secret Holli remedy for it (...which of course she did. Yogurt, who knew?!) My skin is not one to normally react to products, it is very few and far between I have a reaction as bad as this to something.
I can not in good conscious recommend this product line to any of you. I had good hopes for it, especially with the $250 price tag behind it, but to pay that kind of money to have nothing but an intense reaction, no thank you.

What type of skin products are you using right now? What is your go-to antiaging product? Leave us your answer in the comment's below, we LOVE hearing from you!
