Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse

Now that the dreary, late-fall/early-winter New York weather is upon us, I am missing the summer sun in the worst way. I find myself longing for the long, lazy days in the sun getting some sunshine on my pale, pasty skin. Lately, I have been reaching for my self-tanning products to help curb my desire for the golden summer glow that has been fading over the last month or so. One of my favorite self-tanners is a product that has been around at the drugstore as long as I can remember, Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse.

The Jergens sunless tanner is priced around $11-12 and available at most mass retailers. There are two shades to chose from, light bronze and deep bronze. I, personally, prefer to use the Deep Bronze shade for a “recently returned from an amazing Caribbean vacation” glow.

From the Jergens website:

Flawless, natural-looking color—in an instant

Using Advanced Color Complex, JERGENS® Natural Glow® Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse uniquely works with your skin tone to mimic results from the natural sun. This airy, moisturizing mousse allows for a precise, even application that dries in just 60 seconds.

Pump mousse into your hand and smooth evenly over clean, primed body skin. Use sparingly around elbows, knees and ankles. Wash hands immediately after application. Allow skin to dry prior to dressing.
Color will develop instantly and deepen over the next several hours. Use once for natural-looking color and repeat the next day if deeper color is desired

Usually when you think of Jergens self tanning products, you think back to when self tanners smelled like self-tanner. You know what smell I am talking about…that chemical, almost sweaty, weird, sharp, “who smells like that” smell. This product does not give you any kind of strange, self-tanner smell after use. Color development begins almost immediately after application, with the full color development around 4-6 hours after application. The self-tanning foam does not have any color guard as part of the formulation, but with the almost instant color development, it does not pose any issues during the process. The initial dry time is quick, but the skin will feel slightly sticky for around 15 minutes while it absorbs completely into the skin.

Ok, so here is the thing, this product is still a self tanner! What do I mean, you ask? This product works SO well, that you do have to apply the product very quickly before it dries on the skin. Also,  if you are using your bare hands for application you will have to wash your hands in between each section of the body, to not stain the palms of your hands and cuticles.

Regardless of the two little “quirks” of the product, it provides an even, all over color that is believable! Yes, a self tanner that is believable actually exists! If you are looking for a tanner that will get you a “Have you been to the tanning salon? You look really tan...and hot, damn you look hot!” from your partner, this is the product for you.

What about you, do you use self-tanning products? What is your favorite? Would you be interested in another blog post about self-tanning tips and tricks to get the best color possible?

XOXO
